We welcome you into the New Year by introducing the basics of a facial and its beneficial characteristics. Some of you may not be familiar with a facial and how it can affect your skin. We hope that by explaining its benefits, we can inspire you to try a facial treatment if you haven’t done so before.
A facial is defined as a service designed to rejuvenate and improve the skin. Each client is different with her own unique skin type – and one that seems to have a mind of its own sometimes: it can be oily and dry at the same time and even, at times, with acne appearing out of nowhere.
Some of the benefits achieved by having a facial include maintenance of the skin’s health and correction of certain skin conditions. The facial, overall, provides the client with a deep cleansing massage and the use of masks and various products to help promote the skin’s health.
A facial is considered to be one of the most relaxing and enjoyable treatments a client can have in a spa. Medical spas offer more clinical services that focus more on corrective skin treatments.
Spa facials provide clients with a deeper cleansing than their normal skin care regimen at home. There are specific products used to exfoliate the skin. The massage movements used by the professionals increase blood circulation and detoxification and they help relax nerves, senses, and muscles. Additionally, the skin’s functions and metabolism are stimulated and a “slowing down” of premature aging takes place as well as a correction of conditions including dryness, oiliness, or redness. Wrinkles and aging lines are softened, blemishes and minor acne are improved.
Men need to be aware, as well, of the benefits of facials. Their skin will benefit from treatment just as women’s do. It is becoming more socially acceptable these days for men to use spa services and take better care of their skin. Unfortunately – and unlike most women – men, typically, want to perform as little maintenance as possible and need encouragement to take the plunge for a spa experience. Men can – and should – follow a direct and basic skin care routine, but probably need to steer clear of the fragranced products that women enjoy. A spa treatment will prove to be good for both men and women. If you’re reluctant, begin with a basic facial since what you’ve read here hopefully helps you understand the basic benefits – plus it’s relaxing and enjoyable!
